You can get the race version for a little cheaper.

If you have a BBC electric water pump you can get adapter for the ls block to mate to the BBC pump. I found some used BBC pumps for sale for 60 to 120 bucks. Also I just sold a meziere actually traded but trade value was $300 bucks. So you mite get lucky in the classsifieds.

I thought "race" and "inexpensive" were by nature mutually exclusive

Actually if you look at the price of a spool vs a posi or similar you'll find the spool is cheaper. Not many parts where the race version is cheaper then the street version.

Moroso just came out with some adapters so the BBC W/P's fit. Might want to check them out. I know I will later this summer.

IIRC the race version is not rated for that many hours of use, so keep that in mind. It might not be ideal for a DD

So you bought the race unit? I didn't see the ports coming off it for the heater like the $600 pump.

The funny thing is they are all $439 but if you buy a purple one the price is $389

my car came with a perfectly good water pump, and i believe it outflows the electrica in the high rpm's where most of the heat is made!

Mighty Mouse is right, just stick with the trusty stock mechanical pump and you will save a ton and just be better off all around.....
