Default Question about LT1 plug and wires change.

I went to a local shop today and got quoted for over 6 hours of work just to change the plugs and wires on my car. It seems to me that 6 hours is how long it takes the average person to do them and it shouldn't take a professional that long to do the same work. Am I wrong about that?

is the car stock ?? it is a PITA on a bone stock car because the exhaust Y pipe usually needs to be removed to get to the rear plugs.. on a car with mid or long tube headers it would take an hour Tops.

I did plugs and wires on my lil brothers 95 z28 with stock manifolds in about 2.5 hours. It was my second time doing plugs and wires on an lt1, and first on one with stock manifolds. It was a pita for sure, but not no 6 hours worth.

Don't have the tools. Don't have the know how. Don't have the patience. Basically I refuse to do it. I am recovering from an injury but I don't really know if changing the plugs and wires would be demanding on my injured shoulder.

I don't have any tools at all. They were all stolen recently. I don't have the money for new ones and I don't know anybody I can borrow them from. I'm not doing it myself.

Practice makes perfect, especially with an LT1. You got to dig into stuff to figure it out. You will always save money by doing things yourself.

You dont have the money yet your going to pay twice as much to have a shop do it. If anyone can help you out its people on here, do some research and save yourself some money...

I don't have the money to replace my 1k worth of tools. I'm not doing this...it's simple. I'm not very mechanically inclined and I'm injured. It would be a disaster. I only asked if the amount of time seemed correct....I know I should do it myself but I'm not going to.

book time is 6hrs. Any decent mechanic with a lift and tools can obviously do it in half that time or less but still charge you based on the book.
