Default LQ9 vs LS2 bottom end

Aside from the block and heads, are the lq9 and ls2 essentially the same? Same bore, same stroke, both have flat top pistons.

What if any are the differences?

Ls2 is gen4
Lq9 still gen3
Lq still has "distributor hole" cam reluctor sensor
Ls2 has reluctor cam sensor pickup on the timing gear sprocket. Later ls2 are 58x

I knew that stuff, was really just concerned with bore, stroke, and pistons dimensions.

What im really getting at is, does putting 243s on a lq9 ESSENTIALLY give you an iron ls2?

Exactly what I wanted to hear, picked up an lq9 this past weekend and getting 243s tomorrow after work.

With the TR224 and other mods in sig, what do you think it will put to the tires? 390?

Easy answer...yes. The differences were minute but around '05 the LQ9 started using the rotating assembly from the LS2...which was supposed to be stronger.

The 05+ LQ9 has the same pistons, rings, rods, crank (minus the reluctor), timing chain/sprocket as a LS2.

the compression wouldnt be any different if you were using ls2 heads with a lq9 block.
its the same as an ls2 just about 100 pounds heavier i beleive.

I was told that the LS2 rods/pistons will stick out of the block .005 farther on the iron block, than on the AL... haven't checked it, but it would be worth checking if you are milling or using thinner head gaskets.
