Default 12 inch sub in the cubby?

Hey guys,

I searched and I couldn't find anything relavent to this question:

Has anyone squeezed a 12 inch sub into the drivers rear cubby?

I bought the car with a 10 inch explode and a crappy home-made box, with an explode amp. I am upgrading to kenwood component speakers up front, kicker 6.5" subs in the rear seats, and I want to get a better sub for the rear.

If I cant go 12 I might look at a kicker sub or maybe a JL Audio, something quality.

Recommendations welcomed.

Cody

I dont want to lose the T-Top storage, as I drive with the tops off and windows down 95% of the time.

I am trying to keep this on a budget as well, Im doing pretty good thus far.

Kee Audio sells a 12" fiberglass stealth enclosure.

I've strongly considered trying this setup.

Damn, they are showing the 10" speaker hole.. and looking at it, adding 2" isn't giving a whole lot of room around the lip of that box.. but it looks like it can be done then huh?

I've seen it done, but they had to do some creative trimming of the interior piece above it to get it to fit.

As stated, I have a sony explode in a home-made box. It came with the car.

I would love to see a pic if you would be so kind! Did you make the box? Install yourself? How big of a PITA was it?

alright here you go! dont laugh at my shitty trim job on the panel! lol

I didnt build the box, i bought it like this. Installation is easy, just slides in there and actually stays put very well. Pics where taken in the dark so bear with me a little, although i think my flash did a good job.

I'm sure you can make the back nicer looking, but you don't see it when its installed.

You said you bought the box? From where? Do you know how big in cubic feet the box is? It looks pretty small, so Im wondering how it works too? Does it sound nice?

no problem bro. I bought the box from a member here, I'm pretty sure he said its about .67cu. ft. That Alpine is very deep and i was surprised it fits in there, and actually sounds pretty good. defenitly not for bumping but has good sound. i have to turn up the deep bass in the eq to get it to sound perfect. oh yeah and it has the stuffing stuff inside, that helped.

Would you be intrested in buying this one? might save you the hassle of building one.

Im still in the researching stage, but if I do decide to bump up the size, you bet I would be interested!

Thank you!
