on the flat portion of hood in center behind scoop
just ahead of the rear bracing.

I cant say this is 100% for the OEMs to all have this
But I can assure you a counterfeit wont.

They taste different too. The aftermarket knock offs are made from polyester fiberglass and are very bitter....The SMC resin used in the OE hood tastes like waffles.

Not all have it. At least not all the EARLY SS hoods. I have a 01 SS hood and a 98 SS hood. Yes the 01 has the numbers but my 98 doesn't yet put both hoods next to eachother and they are EXACTLY the same. The OE tape is on both, the seal for the air box there too, the grills are exaclty the same as well.

All I can say mybe the patent wasn't done yet on the early SS hoods.

I will say I bought my SS from a member here. I'm sure he's reading this and laughing. You know who you are! Clear the story say it isn't so....
