Generation IV External Engine - Kenne Bell BAP 20amp where to ref 12v with Racetronix rewire

Should I ref. before the hot wire relay on the 12v heavy gauge wire that leads to the alternator...or, go after relay into 12v pos and neg split that leads to quick connector to the fuel pump?
