Me personaly, id go with the hifonics. it may not be cea rated power, but its damn close. another thing i look at is fuse ratings. i think the alpine has 2 20amp fuses where as the hifonics has a 80. there for the hifonics should produce more power.

my gf has that alpine amp pusing 2 10" type s's in her truck. sounds good and its a damn powerful little amp. i have a 1600watt hifonics amp pushing a 10" RE audio SX, and it pounds the **** outta that poor little thing. its way over powered. i used to push to 12" type R's with it without a problem.

Im running the alpine mono 2k watt amp of that model, im powering two memphis mojo 15s in a f250. i love the amp, go with the alpine. i pull hair tricks with my setup! haha

imo the alpine is a higher quality amp and will make that power... make sure your sub is a dual 4ohm or single 2 ohm

I've got that exact Alpine amp in my car right now powering a 10" sub, I've got it turned all the way down and it hits harder than it would ever need to.

Latch what type of sub do you have and what's the RMS and Peak wattage?

These are the subs that I'm looking into getting.

I've been reading that sub can get damaged if it's underpowered. I'm leaning towards the 1022d or the 1042d (Both 500RMS) However, I was told that the alpine mrp-m500 (500RMS) will supply a Type R with a nice amount of power, but it won't elevate the Type R to it's true potential. I don't want to damage my sub and I want to get the most out of a Type R.

What do you guys say?

IMO Hifonics are junk and Alpines' are alright. I'd say Alpine.

I put the same Alpine amp in my sons car a couple yrs ago. It's a good amp, my son has never had any problems with it.

Honestly I've had that sub so long I don't know. It's by Infinity and it seems to be a good subwoofer for how old it is now.

That Alpine amp has 2 x 30 amp fuses. I just went out and looked at mine to verify.

The Hifonics looks like it would put out more power but in a slightly larger package (Alpine is 10-11/16"W x 2-7/16"H x 9-9/16"D; Hifonics is 13-1/2"L x 8-13/16"W x 2-7/16"H).

Personally, I am very pleased with that Apline - I use it to push a single 10", 4-ohm DVC Alpine Type R wired for 2 ohms stuffed in a stealth box, and IMO, it sounds very good in my Camaro. I'm sure there are louder setups out there, but this combo gives enough bass that I can actually make it too loud for me, which is all I need. I already managed to **** my wife off by playing it too loud when I was out in the garage - apparently, it was shaking the stuff in the kitchen (the kitchen and the garage share a wall). She got over it
