Question Gauge overlay killed car???

I was helping my friend with installing his clutch master cylinder. When we finished that we decided to work on his gauge overlay that wasn't working. Odd thing was when we flipped the switch that turns the overlay from green to blue, in one position the odometer would flicker. We started folowing the wires around wiggling them while watching the lighting of the overlay to figure out where the short was when electronics just stopped working(no radio, horn, interior lights, headlights, car won't start). The overlay is powered from the light circut in the ashtray if that matters, and it looks ok from that end. The car is a 2000 camaro z28. Any ideas on what is going on? Thanks

sounds like you blew a fuse. make sure all your splices are clean, no exposed wire to cause a short. Chances are you'll keep shorting it if there is a wire that keeps grounding out.

Took the overlay out and replaced the "horn" fuse under the hood, with the fog light one. Car is up and running minus the fog lights of course. Thanks for the help guys.

Did you find out why the fuse blew in the first place?
