Default 5 point harness with stock Camaro Seats?

I am doing a Turbo build on my 99Z28 and I am just curious if its possible to do a 5 point harness with the stock seats and a 10 point cage? I don't really like the look of aftermarket seats and I don't mind the stock ones. Is it possible to do?

yeah, PM Larry from Speed Inc, he had insert put in his stock leather seats to run a harness. Looks sick IMO. Id post a pic if I had one.

Stock reclining seats with a 10 point cage isn't a great idea safety wise.

Here is what you are looking for though.

first off, without the proper slots, a 5pt wont work correctly. with the headrest holes, you can have a FOUR pt......NOT a 5pt. simply running the sub belt over the front of the seat, then down to a bracket is stupid and wrong. in a crash, the sub belt is supposed to keep you from sliding out of the belts. with it run across the front of the seat, it does absolutely nothing, and will pull the belts away from you instead of keeping them tight on you. if youre going all the way to do a 10pt cage, then do the rest of it correctly and get a REAL racing seat designed for a 5pt. there are many nice seats that look better then any stock camaro ones. arizen makes fantastic seats; 5pt slots, and still have recline, slide, and lumbar adjustment.

The only reason I am even doing a cage is because the track will not let me run without one. The reason I am not looking for a racing seat is because I have not sat in one that I fit in comfortably. I am 6'4" and weight 260 lbs so fitment is a big issue for me. My head is already close to the ceiling of the car with a helmet on and I have not seen a racing seat that sits as low as the stock seats either so I am pretty sure I will have problems with my head hitting the ceiling. Anybody have any suggestions for a bit seat that will fit me and sit low to the ground?

The bigger Sparco Evo's and the larger Corbeau FX1 may work for you. You may have to have custom side brackets made because of your height and helmet clearance. Blainefab on frrax may be able to help you out with that, I know he's made some in the past.

Also if you want to do this all correctly you may want to spring for 6 point harness's rather than 5 points. Consider this...

Think about it this way:

5-point harness, the anti-submarine strap runs right over your manhood.

6-point runs along the front edge of your pelvic bone on the right and left side of your manhood.

In a frontal accident at 50MPH you're experiencing roughly 35G of deceleration, should you survive the anti-submarine strap in a 5 point harness will have obliterated your manhood, think of 1500lb hammer being dropped on your *****.

Also, if you have a gut (fat) you'll have to worry about the correct side strap angles, if they exceed 50 degrees (straps cross your stomach like this: / instead of like this |) then you will be putting a tremendous load on your nether-regions.
