I think I going to try to get my car into the 8's. The car is a 2002 SS, 12.5:1 347ci LS1. It's got the best of everything, and weighs 3k with me in the car. It's been 9.30 @ 144 the second time it went down the track. That was on a progressed 150 shot. We were babying it outta the hole. The car did a 1.39 60' on the back tires. The motor still has the break-in oil in it. Do you all think I'm crazy for thinking I can get it into the 8's with a 250-300 shot?

There was once a little saying,

The Nawwzz is like a hot chick with an STD... you want to hit it but you're afraid of what will happen after.

HIT it with a 200 and find out were she goes, an extra 50 should be good for .3 !!!

Just watch how you hit off the line do not do like I did! Good luck!! Your car moves out good and it will be close.

I personally think it will take 250 if the frontend will stay down. I watched your build along the way and it definitely will do it, just got to get the suspension sorted out. You could always start with the 200 but if you are still babying it out the hole you will need the extra 100 (250 shot total) on the big end to pull the number.

That's probably where I will start. We'll see what 200 will get me.

I hear you. Babying it off the line on the 150 shot almost put me on the bumper. It carried the front tires through the 60'. And that was with 31% of a 150 shot. The car is light though....especially the front end. We'll play with it. Start low and work our way up.

That's what I'm thinking. We'll see what the 200 will do, tighten up the front of the car and try to get it to stick. If I need to, I'll throw the extra in on the big end.

use more power off the line. need more wheel speed and tighten up the front shocks. i dont know if you have travel limitters but those will help you out too. i wouldnt even use the progressive controller. on my old camaro i would leave on a 300 shot off the t-brake. putting the power in down the track will not help you out as much as using more off the line. putting more in down the track will increase your trap speed more than lower your e/t.
i know it sounds crazy but this is coming from experience. if your car wheelies, throw more power at it. no reason you shouldnt be in the 1.2x 60' range. you get there, then the 8.9x will come easy.

^^^ This. You will do better getting your 60ft down in the 1.2 range. On the pass you ran the 9.30 and cut a 1.39. If you would of gotten a 1.29 it would of been a 9.1-9.2 pass and you would just have to fine tune to get in the 8's.
