Default Lt1 question

So I just bought a 94 z28... My car has 245,000 miles on it but I think it has been rebuilt and built up bc it is super powerful. My question is, if I were to eventually change my motor, to another lt1 (92-97), corvette, camaro, or t/a, would it be plug and play or, like third gens, slight mods have to be made for it to work properly?

Depending on the year of the motor that you get form eaither or of the cars that you mentiond above there is little things.. Like if you get a motor from a 96-97 camaro or ta you would have to change out the cam gear behind the timing cover cuz of the opti spark that you have is diffrent that the 96-97..All you would have to do is put the old cam gear from your old motor to the new one simple....That should be it I know that a diffrence in the intake with the vacume lines but nothing to big that would make a diffrence just use your old one as well..

93, 94-95, and 96-97 all have their own differences from each other. excluding the intake, fuel rails, injectors, and tb on the 93 everything is basically the same mechanically. the 93-95 will differ from the 96-97 with the timing cover, timing gears, and cam dowel.

ignition and computer will have some differences depending on the years.

bbodys and ybodys have different water pumps and timing covers than the fbodys. bbodys will also have iron heads unlike the aluminum ones on fbodys and ybodys. besides that they will be mostly the same with the corresponding year fbody.

everything on them though is something that with the right parts can be adapted to your specific year vehicle.

I'm totally going off memory though the so the accuracy of my information might not be the best.

Since you dont know what your doing I would stick with a plug n play engine such as the exact same year. Otherwise you will need a lot of help to know what goes where.

Ahw so ruff on the newbee's lol
Hey I would spend the money and buy an ALDL cable and down load the free software to read the tune in the car now and see if the tune has been changed from factory one. Send it to a tuner and have him tell you if it has been tuned. You can use the cable to read CEL codes as well so it's not a waist.
