Default Porting mas and throttle body

hey guys i have a all stock 2001 camaro. i just now installed a slp air lid and bellows. i noticed the ridge on the throttle body. does anyone have pics of this throttle body and where to port. also the book i have on ls1s shows how to port the maf. but mine is different. i bought a nos plate kit for it and ill have it off. would you recomend the port work and what should i watch out for. also im going to add a different cam but tring to decide what to get now.

youll have to open two tabs, but its a pretty thorough walk-through IMO. As far as a cam goes, what are you looking to do with the car? is it a track car or DD? Even though its a really small cam, i like the LS6 cam, it gives me a nice little boost in power, and as much as i would like to have that nice lope sound, my '81 is my DD, and i'll save a monster cam for my weekend car. but if thats too small, maybe you might want something a little bigger, Texas Speed has really good deals on cams!

Edit: Also, i wouldn't expect massive gains from the port job, from what i've heard it all depends on the quality of the job, but hey, every bit counts right? I'v seen mixed hp gains all over Ls1 tech and other LS sites, so results may vary!

I bought the car for a dd. My current dd was my 97 lifted yukon and 8mpg. So I got the 6 spd and I wanted a car. But I have a bad disease I can't leave nothing alone. Its must mod syndrome. Bought a 89 s10 blaxer for the same reason its got my old 9.90 nos motor and the s10 should b running low 8s with the new block. Id like the camaro to break into the high 11s. But also wana keep the gas mileage I can port the heads throttle body and mas air. Also plan on the 100 shot. The tires and wheels I'm lookin at are 18s and dr.

Don't bother porting the MAF. Really, it doesn't become a restriction until the upper 400s (rwhp). You might end up ******* it up, don't think I've ever seen anyone port the MAF.

The throttle body though, go ahead and do that. Some decent gains to be had from that.

Yea just looking at it I didn't see a restriction the divider blade is airfoiled back to the sensors for the maf. Ill do the throttle body. I'm worried about gas mileage but that don't mean I'm not gona have fun. I just don't wana kill the mileage

the MAF shouldnt on your list until you start putting out some serious power, its a mesh screen as porous as a screen door on a house. its not an issue to address
