Last oil change on Brenda's WS6 and they showed us how the threads were getting in the oil :mad:
Can this be fixed by re-threading or does the oil pan need to be replaced?
We know a quickie oil change place screwed it up in fort Lauderdale but they're closed down (wonder why :eyes: ).

I am trying to think back looking under the car but isn't the oil filter port built into the block, so if those threads are stripped the block would have to be replaced? I can't really recall where the part that the filter screws onto is of it is a remote filter housing or not. Does the filter not tighten at all?

the older blocks the port bolted on to it. i am not sure on the ls block, try a search for a diagram of it.

Its not on the block at all, its on the pan, and I beleive that part actually bolts into the pan so you wont have to remove the pan. Give the dealership a call, they will be able to help they are also gonna be the ones to get you one. DONT TRUST the local oil change monkeys, they dont care if they tear your stuff up, its not theirs.

How the fuck can someone strip out the oil filter threads??? Glad their no longer in business.

what motor is it, the oil filter threads should unscrew from the oil pan, the pan is aluminum and the treads should be steal or am i thinking of the wrong part.

On the LS1 OEM pan, the threaded fitting comes out with a large hex key. My parts list says its 12552357.
Depending on what you have, you may need a different part. For example, there is another thread here saying that the oil filter fitting that comes with replacement GM pans takes a totally different filter size.
