Default Increasing Horsepower in my TA

FB TA 2002 WS6 RamAir. Stock 5.7L v8 Any suggjestions? Not sure if the engine is LS1 or not but heres a pic. Yes i am a noobie
Nothing is different except for an aftermarket radio and speakers placed in the back seat area and the driver and passenger side doors wit ha seperate amp.

Getting a new exhaust for example. SLP Loudmouth 1

Anything i can do to the Engine? Parts i would need? Say a basic build not to expensive to increase my cars performance and the steps i would have to take

All trans ams and firebird formulas from 98-02 came with an ls1 so that answers your first question. If you're really set on the LM1 then go for it caz it sounds pretty good but check out ls1sounds.com and youtube to hear some other setups. There's a ton out there! As far as what you can do to the engine it depends..how much were you looking to spend?

headers-back exhaust (if you do a few mods the SLP LM1 exhaust gets very raspy and tosses out an undesireable tone, if kept close to stock it sounds as mean and aggressive as it gets) the lid and high flow filter is a simple 150 buck job that anybody can do and increase throttle respone, so can a ported throttle body as opposed to going out and buying a new one and thats roughly 75-100 bucks. the headers-back exhaust i recently switched to cost just under a grand... headers y pipe and cat back. so that is just under half of your budget and you just increased by around 30 RWHP. that leaves enough money for a cam and a good tune or go the route of appearance mods bc you will be tearing up most cars on the street with just those mods... best of luck, because the mods get addicting and next thing you know it you start blurting out quotes from ricky bobby like "i wanna go fast!!!!" welcome to the group

This is the start you want.....get rid of all the stock restrictions..
let the car breath before anything.....
those mods alone with install will come with a nice $$$$$$
do these first.....and just read the forum
this site is the best to come accross when it comes to ls1 performance

All air lids are pretty much the same. They replace the stock intoduction system and eliminate the baffles used to keep the engine noise down. Go to ws6store.com and find one you like. All are good for 5-10 hp.

id go with a dyno tune from a good tuner. get everything done at once because tuning usually isnt cheap.

^This.

If you invest in a H/C/I package, you'll need a tune for sure. Try and get as much together at once as you can.

I'd stay away from a cam for now...you need to finish all your bolt-ons to accomodate for a cam...

Here is a good typical list that will match your budget:
CAI...so for you a lid and filter
LONG TUBE HEADERS, OFF ROAD Y-PIPE (ORY) CATBACK
NEW GEARS..your an m6 so 4:10s..(these will put you back in your seat/break your neck)
stall/torque converter.....will also break your neck...
and a tune..you'll NEED a tune so it's not an option

That imao is a great start....will yield excellent performance gains and is a very typical setup...

Then look into heads/cam.....nitrious...

and don't neglect your suspension......

Our cars have one cam. For the first round of mods, I personally would recommend this to any new guy learning about these cars...

SLP Lid
Pacesetter LT headers
Off road Y pipe
Electric cutout(optional)
Catback of your choice.(SLP, magnaflow, hooker... or some of the more $$ ones, Corsa or Borla.
After all that is on the car it will be ready for a dyno tune.

This is the cheaper way to go. I have it on my car and it is awesome.
