block or loop heater hose at water pump???

Hey guys i just removed my heater and ac box and now need to do something with the two ports on the water pump. I am wondering if i can just block them off or do i need to loop them ?

I cut mine off and welded them smooth. I notice no difference in cooling, still 155 at idle. So will argue that it disrupts flow cycle but I have yet to see it. My car is only driven maybe 50 miles a year though.
