I have a 2000 SS (see sig). I asked several people on a different board if changing a cam would make a very noticable difference. Most people suggested headers instead of the cam. Several sponsors that replied, half said a cam, the other half recommended headers. SLP recommended their 1.85 rockers instead of a cam.

Well I opted for a cam. 220/224 560 565 114 +4. I will be having it installed this week. I am replacing the spring with comps 918's and getting their hardened pushrods. They suggested the titanium retainers but said they weren't really necessary...

Would the titanium retainers make much of a difference? And do you think this is a good cam for a daily driver (no headers or head work either)?

if you plan to spin up passed 6500rpm go for the tit. retainers. less mass at a high rpm is a good thing.

if you havent already bought the springs i'd look into the manley kit from SDPC, springs good for .600 lift and tit. retainers for 178

and i'd of opted for headers and intake before the cam. that cam isnt all that big so should make a great daily driver but you wont see huge gains by just the cam swap on your current setup.

Excellent cam for a daily driver. you won't see as big of a hp increase as the guys with headers, but it should still add some power. Ti retainers are really not that necessary, unless you are going to rev it high (you won't have to with that cam), then you would want a lighter valvetrain.
