Default I think I may be stupid...(keys)

So here we are, locked out of our GTO because the battery is dead in the silly key... How the hell do I get this thing open so I can change the battery?! Me and several friends have tried everything..

I remember having to use the key hole on my buddy's 05, and it worked.

More recently my buddy's 04 just had a dead battery and we literally almost broke the key in the key hole trying to open it, it just wouldn't budge. He ended up jumping it off of the alternator or something along those lines.

If you are talking about the key fob, it isn't supposed to be taken apart. There is a thread over at LS1GTO if you want to try.

Right,
If the battery in your keyfob is dead, you have a problem. They are a sealed unit, not ment to be replaced. It charges off the ignition. You will have to get a new (not used!) keyfob off ebay, or god forbid - from the dealership. Then you swap out the key portion by removing the two screws. It will have to be programed to the car, but you can do that yourself. LS1 GTO forums has a thread on this, but it takes 30 minutes to program.
You can always use the key manually, but that is a pita!
Good luck!

the battery in the keyfob is not meant to be serviceable. And it does not recharge from the ignition ring. The only thing that battery does is work the buttons on the fob.

Easy fix, install an after market alarm system.

No spare key? Are we safe to assume that you don't have the non ignition key also? If you had that you would get in.

if you wanna know how to program it yourself its really easy just time consuming. basically you turn your car on for 30 seconds then off and repeat. i believe you do this 3 times and tada its programmed.

I bet that this key (metal part) and ignition lock is from different GTO. Those cars have lot of problems with ignition lock. I bet somebody just get used from junkyard and did not replace locks in doors.
