18x9.5 w/275/35/18 Vs. 16x8 w/MT Drag Radials Weight Surprise! Interesting observation...I normally run 18x9.5 C5 Z06 chrome rims w/275/35/18 General Exclaim UHP tires. I was swapping off my drag radials today and decided to pull out the scale to see what they weigh and I was kind of surprised.
My 18's weighed in at 52 lbs. each w/ties, and stock 16x8 with 255/50/16 MT ET Street Radials only weighed 2 Lbs. less and came in at 50 Lbs. each. By comparison, I'm still running the stock 245/50/16 Eagle GS-C tires on the front 16x8's and they only weighed 41 lbs. each. I'm surprised the MT's weigh 9 Lbs more than the GS-C's!
Any thoughts on why the MT's weigh so much more?
