1/16s ring take way less power to push up and down the cylender.
1/16s = great compromise in withd and less parasitic drag.
5/64ths = durability and thats it...lol

i'd run the thinnest rings you can afford for the application of the motor. Napier second is the way to go. No reason to run anything more than a 1/16 or 1.5mm compression ring when pro stock and comp eliminator are running less than a 1mm ring. What's the motor setup?

Its just 355 with 11:8:1 compression, le1 heads with stainless valves, lt4 hot cam, 1.6 pro mags. I know I should install a little larger cam but it is just a CA daily driver car that will see the track two times a year max. Instead of a larger cam I am going to spend my cash on a stall. The guy who is balancing my rotating assembly was telling me the 5/64in ring pistons I had were not ideal, so I took his advice and ordered a set with 1/16in rings; so far it sounds like I made the correct choice. Wicked94Z do you run your car on the street, is it running a optispark?

You made the right choice. I am running 1.5mm, 1.5mm, 3.0mm rings in my SBC setup.

yea i street drive the car... hasn't passed smog in 6 years Yea I've got an opti on there still. Just as a distributor though, it's gutted. I run a crank trigger with the DFI for crank position. Car is down right now for the intake swap

The 1.5mm and 1/16" rings will last FOREVER in a street SBC, you'll be good. Watch out for bad fuel on that compression here in socal. I did my last motor in at 12.5:1 with a pretty big cam on this 91 octane down here.

I would like to see that thing in person some day; I am not far from you in Glendora. I have relatives in rancho, upland and Fontana and I have never spotted your car on the street. Maybe one day I will see that monster going down the road. What fuel stations would you recommend for 91 octane? I have been using sams club 91 octane, but that was with a hot cam only lt1.

Yea I grew up in glendora off lone hill, then claremont, and now I live in upland. I took my car off the street last month due to it being a smog year and not wanting to pay up. But when i get it running I'll give ya a ride around my house, the neighbors will love that I think my problem was Arco gas... stay away!

Yep I have been warned to stay away from Arco gas a couple of times. Let me know when you have yours running I would like to check it out; hopefully mine is up and running soon, just waiting on those darn pistons.

I O.K I think I will have a solid motor after everything is done; at least it should have quite a bit more than my hotcam only motor. I am going to give edge racing converters a call today to order my stall.
