anyone measured what it takes to turn rotating assembly

Default anyone measured what it takes to turn rotating assembly

just what it say freshly assembled short block,What has anyone ever measured what it takes to rotate the assembly from the crank bolt?no cam,heads nothing but block,crank,rods,pistons and rings?

Not much, maybe 30ft lbs I could turn mine by hand with the pulley

The break away on mine was 17 Any more than 25 and you need to look around and see what may be binding.

i started last night assembling and was measuring how hard it was as i installed the pistons and rods,with 1&2 installed it was about 6 with 1&2&3&4 it went up to 15 so i stopped,I checked my rod side clearance on both sets which were on the same spots before and it was .14 so thats good.i cannot see anything wrong but was worried a tad.

with coated parts looking at 8-10 lbs to turn it

Its the fillets for the rod journals on the crank,The rod bearings are not chamfered so i have to go back to the machine shop after work and grab a different bearing set.
