Drag Racing Tech - my latest project!!!!!

first off this isnt a build thread, its just some pics of my latest project. this is my wifes racecar slash street car. its a whole lot heavier on the race part than it is street but we live in a small town and it is going to make the occasional trip to dairy queen, or her 3 mile drive to work.

we bought this three years ago as a v6 beater, although it was in fairly good shape its transformation started immediately. its intent is to be a superpro/pro dragcar that is streatable. let me know what you think.

we started by stripping the interior and putting in a 10 point cage that we bent up ourselves.

modified the factory seats for the harnesses

in the process i decided to switch to a 2002 dash, here is what the interior looked like finished, its filthy in the pics.

next is the drivetrain. its a 406 c.i. small block. with a dragonslayer crank, 6 inch H beam rods, a bullet camshaft, and a set of Dart pro 1 heads. its all topped off by a jesel rocker system, a hurricane intake and a Ken Jones performance E85 carb.

backing it up is a coan 5400 stall convertor and a glide.

it finally made a pass, after three and a half years of work, 3 different jobs and a new baby in the mean time it finally ran at the end of last season. as you can tell the factory v6 rear sway bar would hold a 1.35 short time. it twisted pretty hard.

here is a quick video of the cars 3rd pass ever. its kind of a handfull untill i put the anti roll bar on. i havent used the trans brake yet, this is leaving from a dead idle and the timing backed way off for shake down pourposes. this is a 1.40 sixty and it ran a 6.60 at 103.

we finally got some paint on it this winter, now we are just waiting on some nice weather to get it out and drive it.

thanks guys its been a lot of work, hopefully the weather around here cooperates and i can get some better pics of it tomorrow. most of these are just cell phone pics that truely do not do this car any justus.

What tracks do you race at? I hit GLD, Byron and 41 aka NLR quite a bit maybe ill see it around.

im 45 minutes from gateway, hopefully something happens there and it opens back up soon. but we mostly race at Havana, Coles County Dragway, I57 dragstrip and Indy. we are scheduled to be at the NMCA race at Joliet this year.

Love the third pic ...reminds me of my own garage ,,lol 94 Z/28 getting built ...while my 71 SS sits and waits to be resurrected ..lol

no she hasnt made a pass in it yet, she has driven it around though. she plans to race it just as soon as we get a track open this spring.

she is no stranger to going fast though she has raced my backhalved 69'
