Ac delete, how hard is this?

Ac delete, how hard is this? I'm thinking of deleting my ac here soon. i have a delete pulley. I'm just wondering if this is pretty straight forward and easy, and also will the bolts work that hold the compressor? Also do you have to plug the 2 holes on the black box when you take off the metal lines?

No, you can leave your heater hooked up.. You do not have to unhook the hot water lines to remove the a/c. Removing the A/C is not good for something you want to drive on a regular basis.. The a/c is even used on your defrost selection in the winter.. It helps dry the air to clear the front window. If it is a track beast this wont matter. When the a/c is off there is less than 1hp used to spin the pulley. It is no dif than an idler pulley when the power is off to the pump. Hope this helps. .

Good to know. The car is a DD. My compressor hasnt worked for the past couple years so I was thinking maybe I should just get rid of it and free up some space. It would be nice to have ac though. Just don't want to pay for a new compressor and evacuate/recharge.

My car is for the street, we don't have any strips by me. Its not a DD though just the weekend beater. As far as how in depth right now its just removing the stuff up to the black box. Maybe later pull the black box and get one of those pannels, but I'm for sure going to keep the heater. Its out of freon as it sits and sometimes there is a loud whine from one of the pulleys. I thought it was the alternator but i replaced it and i still heard it so im thinking now its the ac compressor, or water pump(hoping its the compressor since i want to delete it anyway). But for now it will just be up to the black box under the dash. Anyone know the size of the plugs i would need, and also do you need a tune right away or will it just throw the ses light?

got my delete pulley sitting in the corner in my room. it took about 10 minutes to pull all but one of the lines, condenser, and canister. i left the box in the firewall. the compressor is held on with 3 bolts. my motor came out so it was easy to pull it, but it looks like it might be a PITA with the motor in the car

It's easy, just be careful when you disconnect the compressor; it's a lot heavier than it looks.
Most parts come off without much effort and the AC delete pulley bolts right in.
Leave the box on the fenderwall alone if you plan to reinstall this later.

alright thanks for the help everyone. Any one know what the plug sizes are though? Also did you guys get a tune right away or is it ok to drive without? I saw it was an option when i got my first tune from mad tuner, and im going to get it tuned out eventually but i was waiting untill i get my rear gears put in so i can get 2 birds with one stone.

How much does the a/c equipment in the black box weigh? I removed all my a/c equipment years ago but didnt touch the box. Thinking of yanking it too next time I have the motor out. Sorry for the

I want to keep the heat, I assumed the heat & a/c coils would be seperate but maybe they're integrated. Anyone that has removed this equipment let me know if you can keep heat.
