New to LS's I just recently picked up a 98 Camaro with a 3.8 5 speed. I was talking to a friend about possibly picking up a truck LS engine and wiring from an LS1. If I got the truck LS, does that match up to the 5 speed and if it doesn't, what would? Just looking for some info, any will help!

you will need a different k member, go ahead and get a 4l60e or t-56 and do it right. make sure you are choosing wisely when getting the harness and ecu if going with the t56. the auto harness, trans, and haress are easy to come by the 6 spd is pretty tough.

I agree with Monmouth, you are getting into a big project, if you really want the ls I'd just buy one. The swap is going to require a lot of work and down time, not to mention you may end up getting stuck or loosing interest half way through
