What is the likely hood of lets say my car becoming collectible in 20 years. If it was rare enough and there was people looking to buy them. I know the hugger orange cars are rare, 35ths and the SOM cars. What other cars are rare besides obvious ones like the ZL1's?
Shouldn't i then keep the original block/heads/trans etc so the #'s match?

Who knows when the 4th gen cars will be collectors items. It could take 30-40 years. They will not be scarce. Too many people are keeping them, thinking they will be worth something in the near furure. The first gen Camaros are worth more now because very few people kept them as a collectable. I bought my 69 SS396 in 1971 as a second car. Used it every day for 9 years. As early as 1980 the value started going up,so I then retired it. It now has 75K miles on it. It is a numbers matching unrestored original. Paint, interior, clutch, engine, 4 speed M21 and 355 posi all came from the factory. So, don't worry about saving it. Drive it,modfy it and enjoy it. Its ment to be enjoyed not looked at.

True, Im not looking at late model gm products as an investment but the way musclecars have shot up in price i was pondering it. You are a smart man to buy a 69396 ss in 1971, gas crunch would have been an even better time probably huh?
Do you like the Spohn suspension stuff? all good? any regrets?

LS1 Formula FireHawks are rare about 100 produced each year since `99
Also Formula WS6's just over 600 total from `98-`00.
Can't forget 1LE Z28's, Formula's.

To boot,I only paid $2000 for the 69 SS396 in 1971. Yes, I like the Spohn suspension parts. Steve installed all of them for me. I am waiting for him to make a STB. Then I'll have all his parts. His shop was only 15 minutes from my house. He has since moved and is now 30 minutes from my house. My car was used to make the proto type tubular weld on SFC. See pics:
