Default doin a little exhaust research

so i just put a set of strano/bilsteins on, replaced the opti and water pump. time to get a set of headers and redo my exhaust, after 5 owners molesting it i ended up with a non catted 93 y, stock manifolds cracked all the way around and tons of holes in at least 5 weld spots.

im prob. gunna run the pacesetters i can get a set for around 380 locally unless anyone has a good reason to buy something different

not sure on what i want to do with the rest tho, i want true duals but i dont want my ground clearance to be horrible so im considering an ory and cat back and again i dont know what one, i like the slp loudness but dont like the raspy sound on decel as i do downshift in traffic.

so any suggestions on non raspy loud exhaust above say 3k rpm and good ground clearence?

whats your budget? I would personally go with the gmmg if you can find it. Check out youtube for some ideas on what the different exhaust sounds like.

for headers, get the stainless ebay ones for like $250 with a ypipe

for a catback, the magnaflow would get my vote for a louder good sounding one. doesn't hurt that it's stainless steel as well unlike most in it's price range.

I put on ebay headers and am building true duals with home made boom tubes. hopefully it will be done tomoro and i'll post pics. don't have any way to get a sound clip but with the degisn there hopefully wont be any rasp and ground clearence will be sufficient. we'll see tomoro. btw, total setup including headers has cost me $400

Hookers great sounding, and pretty docile under 3k rpms, manifolds and a cat delete, so I can say for headers with a hooker cb, hooker gets my vote, other than that, gmmg, and powersticks for true duals.

hmm all good info but still more questions, i thought about the ebay headers a year or so ago and decided against them because of bad reviews saying the tubes were to thin. any thiner than say 1/8" is to thin, plus wont stainless headers turn blue?

stainless will change colors some in certain spots, BUT it won't rust like a coated or uncoated header.

let me put it this way, I have ceramic coated headers and wish I had stainless steel ones.

I really like my LPP headers but he doesnt have any in stock. Quite a few people have teh stainless ebay headers now and havent heard too many negatives on them and for under 400 w/ ory thats a good deal. from there def a magnaflow for sound/quality/price or even a SLP lm1 and replace the resonator with a round magnaflow.

^x2, I would get lpp headers, but if he doesn't have any in stock when I get to buying headers, I'm going with the fleabay headers, can't beat those for $290 shipped, even if you have to persuade them to fit.

some food for thought many ppl ran true duals and ended up having better ground clearance than they did stock/y-pipe

I have pacesetter Longtubes wraped in DEI wrap with there Y pipe, The driver side fit perfect the passanger side need one spot dented to fit correctly by the lower k frame area. Also the y pipe on the driver side where the notch is needs dented a little as well so it wont rub the floor board. very minor issues, they sound fantastic, seal great, price is great as well.

What ever you do DONT by a FLOWMASTER, They suck and blow out very easy. Yes they sound good at first but even that starts to fade when they start to blow out.

I went through 3 flowmaster before i removed it.

I have eBay stainless and love them. Mine are a shiny brown color and blue in some spots. I'd do it again for sure.
