Default best spring for .620/.624 lift?

best spring for .620/.624 lift?

Crane, comp or Patriot performance has their own dual spring?

I would hope one of these could last 30k miles before the need of new ones

You'll need something in the 1.500" OD and around 140# on the seat for any longevity. We generally get around 100 hours on a marine application with a simlar size hyd roller before springs need to be changed. Thats 10K in car miles.

The Patriot spring is not the same as REV or Ferrea.

I would think some Crane 1.46 duals would work just fine. Most solid roller guys with higher lift than yours are running those springs w/out issue.

For those of you running pretty hot set-ups I would recommend getting an on the head spring tester. Note the pressure of the spring new and periodically check the pressure. When you have a 15% or more drop in seat pressure time to change. The tester runs around $100.

Also alot of the time you'll start to see valve float with worn springs. Sudden or even more than normal drop on a dyno sheet after higher RPM's.

Be VERY careful when going to springs larger than 1.43 OD, they require the spring pocket to be cut very close to the exhaust port. If the head has ever been hot, the risk of a failure is greatly increased. I would definitely Rockwell test the heads before machining for any of the big duals. The Patriot and Comps are the best out for such a big lift cam now that we've found.
