Default Coolant fan Problem....

the fans never come on until I pull the temp sensor plug. then they never stop. the sensor has about 100 miles on it and I honestly think that this has been going on since before that. any ideas!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried your fan relay switch? I just installed a relay bypass switch and control them manually.

Are you sure you understand how/when the fans are supposed to work? I don't know what you know about the system. Some people think there is something wrong when there is actually not and you really don't give any symptoms of what it is doing.

I wouldnt call myself an expert on the coolant system but I am aware that when the car is overheating to the point water is seeping out that they should probably be on. If I am wrong let me know thats what this thread is for.

As far as the relay I would think that if its bad they wouldn't run at all because there would be no connection.

Thanks for the input guys by the way!!!

Like I said, I don't know what you know about the LT1 cooling system. Some people think the fans should come on way before they actually do. Hopefully, you can find some help in the info link I posted.

What temp does it get up to? Stock fans come on at 225 for the low speed, 235 for the high speed.

My Camaro would run fine at speed on the freeway, as soon as I would start cruising town temp would climb over 210. Maybe get to 240 or so, but would not get into the red. Telling me that the thermostat and pump were working just not the fans. The car would also get hot if I let it idle too long. After putting in a Casper Electronics fan bypass switch I can turn them on in the staging lanes or if I am in town. Haven't had a problem since. You could always change out the fan relays or check to make sure your fans are working. Thermostats are easy to replace, so are the fan relay switches which are in your fuse box under the hood, the bypass switch takes ten minutes.

I had the same issue with my car and after me trying to figure it out and paying a shop to not fix it I just went and got a couple of toggle switches and wired them up I haven't had an issue since

When you changed or had the sensor changed, was there tape put on the sensor? I did this with one of my cars before, as soon as I took the tape off, it worked fine.
