Default Mods without tune?

I have a 02 z28. It is stock except the slp lm2 exahust.
What would be something to add to the car to give it more power without having to do a tune. I will eventually but want to save some money for now.
Thanks for any sugestions.

Headers, and a CAI kit, you wont have to tune for those, but the car will make more power, and even a lil more if yoiu had it tuned. A mail order tune would get you super close with those mods. Usually a mail order tune is 125-150 bucks.

SLP LID, Dynatech SuperMAXX Header w/ Catted Y, matted to a Corsa exhaust showed knock retard and maxed out fuel adj.

W/ the SLP lid alone made 324 rwhp (m6 w/ 10 bolt)

Header and Exhaust made 325 rwhp!?

Dyno Tuned made 355 rwhp.

Just my exp.

If you don't have a lid get one, do all of the "free mods" also. $.02

Lid
Longtube headers
Y pipe
Gears- don't show a HP increase, but definitely make the car quicker.
If you are an auto, a converter is your best mod.

a tune will wake any car up, but not necessary until you start flowing more air.

Do you want more power or want to go fast? They aren't always synonymous - F bodys can go low 12's or maybe better with a stock engine. Its all in the rest of the drivetrain and suspension. If you wanna really wake the car up for cheap change the gear set and find a used nitrous setup.

In my opinion free mods are a waste - they don't really do anything. I usually say the same with bolt-ons as well. Spend 1000 dollars to go from mid 13's to low 13's the 1/4 mile it just doesn't make sense.

Usually a tune is done after full or close to full boltons is done, then it will make the most benifit for the money.
