Default Used exhaust set up....

hey guys.. just recently i came across a fella selling a nice set of headers (hooker competition long tubes) and a True dual set up w/ xpipe combo ( BOTH USED).. if they are in fairly good condition is there a down fall to this? being used items that is. Both are as old as last summer.. any advice helps because im looking around for a good set up but im also very tight on cash since i just quit my job.. THanks guys

Doesnt sound like it. Look for rust, cracks,or leaks, but if its a year old and a good deal i would pick it up for sure! Hope it works out for ya

i personally wouldnt use true duals because a guy around here who specializes in lsx motors said that you loser power a normal catback is better dyno proven he said. but if its a good enough deal i would pick it up for atleast the headers.

That's the first I've heard of this.

OP, just check it out and see if it looks good and you should be fine. I wouldn't have any issues buying used exhaust. My headers were used, and no issues at all.

most used dual systems have a scraps from bottoming out. just make sure to look at those places if there are any, to make sure the pipe is not busted or leaking.... as stated before.

Personally I would never go back to a "specialist" that says a catback is superior to true duals.

The Y-pipe with single in/dual out catback setup on these cars is used as a concession to space, not because it has better power potential.

Yeah some guys will tell you stuff like that and so it so matter-of-factly you will want to believe them, especialy if they have experience in some line or another. Trust this site though, not them. Some guy at a muffler shop was telling me that the car ran at 100% already with the stock exhaust...well i got him to weld my stuff still cause hes a good welder but never asked his opinion on exhaust again
