Default Strange noise coming from a built T56

Ive got a strange noise coming from my trans. When you engage the clutch you instantly hear it start to turn the trans and you hear some sort of whirring noise. It only does this in neutral not while in gear. You also only hear it when your stopped and idling. The other day I did a pull up to about 110-120 and started to hear the noise except more high pitched. Then I Pushed the clutch and put it in neutral and heard it even louder. The car seems to drive perfectly fine otherwise. I was thinking it might be a throwout bearing at first but now im thinking it might be an internal transmission bearing. Im using Pennzoil Synchromesh fluid and it is the car in sig. Im going to try and pull the trans next week. Any idea what the problem could be? Im really hoping I dont have to open up the trans, ive never done internal transmission work.

The trans is a rebuilt c6 zo6 trans converted and built for 800ft/lbs.

Thanks guys any help is appreciated.

Sounds like I'm having the same issue. I need to drop trans as well but I've been lazy. Who built yours by the way?

got started on pulling the trans today. Drained the fluid and there seems to be a bit of metal shavings in the fluid. no big chunks but the fluid has somewhat of a metallic shine to it.
