Long tube headers
I'm looking to put on some long tubes and I need to keep my cat on. My question is how can I do this? That is w/ out it looking like ****? The way the exhaust shop described it sounds difficult. Anyone have pics or advice to do so? Thanks.

Not sure exactly what youre asking but I'll take a stab at it since no one else has yet.
If you're dead set on buying LT headers, but you want to have catalytic converter(s), than you'll need to buy a Y-pipe from the same header manufacturer that already has catalytic converters on it.
As for re-using your stock converters, you can't. Well I guess you could with enough time and custom fabrication but that'd be completely pointless.
99% of aftermarket headers have a matching Y-pipe that you need to order with the headers, and you can choose with or without catalytic converters. Some are interchangeable such as Jet Hot and Hookers, but most aren't.

If you have a 93 to 95 car it may be possible to keep the cat. If you try to keep the cat in the stock location you're gonna have a horrible flowing y pipe with very sharp curves. On a dual cat car it isnt possible to keep them in the stock location.
You can run aftermarket cats right after the headers.
If you have to keep the cat, and in the same location Id go with MAC midtubes.

I'm a lot more familiar with the 96-97 setup, and as you already said, you can't keep the stock cats.
In the long run you'll be much better off with a nice aftermarket y-pipe with high-flowing converters than trying to keep your stock y-pipe and cat(s), less headaches and screwing around, too.

Mines a single cat 94 Formula. The headers are Pace setter's. Im looking to replace the cat if it needed it. But since you say the stock won't work than I guess I don't have much of a choice. I would like to not have it but I need it for emissions do to this is my daily driver. So does Pace Setter make one? I'm using my phone to repond. So my look up options are limited at the moment. Plus thats how he had descibed it. Just ugly bends.

I'm 100% sure Pacesetter makes y-pipes to match their long tube headers. If they've got one that has a converter on it, than this is what you need.
If they don't offer one, than you've just gotta buy a high-flowing cat and have some custom pipe work done to make it work with your headers and the rest of your exhaust.

sounds like a good one, I dont know the size on it though but magnaflow make them for aftermarket exhaust. Check the classifieds cause you can sell (people buy in there) your stock cat for more than the price of a new one. Or see how much your local scrap yard will give you for it. They have precious metals inside
