Default Got a new car

I bought a 2002 SS M6 today. Black on Black with 35k miles. IT has some sort of exhaust rattle, it sounds like the heat shields somewhere in the back are rattling at start up or whenever i let the clutch out. Anyways, I'm looking for the exhaust that comes out below the centersection of the rear bumper and makes two triangular halves. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you are talking about
the SLP optional Center Mount Exhaust (CME)
which really souldn't be making any noise.
Are you sure it doesn't have any aftermarket
suspension parts on it.

That sound is where the catback connects to the y-pipe. The catback will slide back sometimes because the clamp is not tight enough.

I'ts completely stock right now, I can verify that there are no aftermarket suspension components. IT sounds like it could be the hangers for the mufflers or something.. It happens when i let the clutch out at a low rpm or rev the car up high. It's definetely coming from the exhaust/back portion of the car.

its probably where the exhaust goes over the axle, some cars dont have proper clearance, my borlas did it so i had to adjust it. but no adjusting the stock system.

Thats not the exhaust i was looking for, the one i'm thinking of is two pipes that have triangular tips that exit center rear bumper. I'm really tired, i've gotta get some sleep!

You might be hearing the tail pipes smacking up against the bottom of the bumper. Mine do that every so often.

This is the exhaust you're thinking about...

you should search for these answers. we don't mind helping newbs, but all of these questions have been answered numerous times, so a simple search will do more good for you then waiting on someone like us to answer your questions.

firstly, descreening the maf is something a lot of people will debate about. personally, i think it's better left in. if you do take it out, replace your air filter with a good filter. a k&n filter is NOT a good air filter. <--debate on that one also. do a search.

secondly, a cut out is a 2 way piece of pipe that goes somewhere in your exhaust system. most people either put it under the rear passenger seat on the i-pipe in the catback, and some get dual cutouts and run them right past the catalytic converters. the latter option is really frickin' loud. the first sounds great, and offers a pretty big, and cheap, performance boost as well. some people get electric cutouts (like qtp) so that they can cap their cutout and open it when they want with the flip of a switch. the alternate option is crawling under your damn car to screw bolts on and cap your cutout(s). you'll find that if you don't get an electric opener, you'll always have your cutout open. open means that the gasses are being allowed to exit without going into the rest of the catback, and closed means that the gasses go along their normal exhaust path, through the catback.

speed limiter - yes, but way too high for you to worry about.

I'd also advise against messing with the MAF. Just let it stay the way it is.

For the exhaust, you can get it brand new from http://www.slponline.com

SLP performance sells the center quad tip
one like in the link I gave above.
I think you'll have to look under SLP OEM
and have your VIN for the one DMNSPD pic'd
