Bowling Green, Ky – The dates for the 2011 Holley LS Fest have been set for September 9,10 and 11, at Beach Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Holley LS Fest is where anything powered by a GM LS engine can participate in a multitude of scheduled events that showcase style, performance, engineering and speed.

The LS Fest attracts a multitude of GM powered vehicles from all across the United States, to participate in competitive events designed for stock to highly modified vehicles. Some of the popular drag racing challenges include a True Street, 10-inch Tire and Unlimited classes that have showcased LS powered vehicles running 7.5 and 8-second quarter-mile times. Other contestants can test their LS powered vehicle’s performance in an autocross, a 0-60-0 acceleration and brake challenge, or simply enjoy a drive during one of the leisurely countrywide cruises that take place throughout the weekend.

The 2011 LS Fest will likely bring out a variety of year, make and model vehicles including late-model Camaros, Corvettes, Ponticac Firebirds and GTO’s. Last year’s LS Fest also brought out some impressively engineered vehicles, including a Volkswagen Karmen Ghia and Jeep Wrangler JK, both with an LS power plant under the hood, and it’s likely that more odd but impressive combinations are sure to attend.

One of the highlights of the LS Fest is the Engine Swap Challenge, where two teams compete to swap out their vehicle’s engine for an LS power plant in the fastest time. The 2010 winner was Justin Dermondy of Williamsburg, Iowa who with his team managed to replace the engine in his Olds Cutlass in only 31 minutes and 57 seconds. Many observers wondered if this time could ever be beaten, which will add extra pressure for the 2011 participants as well as bragging rights.

The Holley LS Fest attracts major coverage from automotive publications and the media, including Car Craft, Chevy High Performance Magazine, Horsepower TV, Hot Rod Magazine, GM High Performance Magazine, LSX TV and many others who attended and featured the 2010 event. It’s also a great venue for anyone interested in adding performance to their LS engine, to see first hand what performance modifications to these engines can actually produce in a real-world environment that can be witnessed up close.

Holley’s LS Fest also spawned a variety of new performance products that make it easier for car enthusiasts to add a GM LS engine into their classic/muscle-car or hot rod. Some of these products include new Hooker LS Engine Swap Mount Plates and LS Engine Swap Headers, a Holley GM LS Retrofit Oil Pan, Modular Hi-Ram and Dual-Plane Mid-Rise intake manifolds, Holley LS Coil Covers, and more.

Good news!
I liked what Holley did with this race last year, wish we would have had the car ready.
Going to do our best to make it to the race this year.

I think it will be the biggest LS event of the year. Between the drag racing, autocross, engine swap, The Grand Champion contest, car show, the vendors and the bands it's an awesome weekend.

I'll be twisting some arms so that Illinois represents!!!

Why did they go to "Street Tire Only" for the autocross this year?

I've been looking forward to attending this event for the last two years. I was really looking forward to running the autocross, but I don't have 200+ treadwear street tires. I hate to have to buy wheels and tires for one event. Especially since the widest tire available for my car that will meet the treadwear requirement is a 225mm.

Is there anyone I can talk to to request a "Race Tire" class again?

This is a qualifying event for the Optima Ultimate Streetcar Invitational, and those are the same rules used there.

Could a person race more than one class?

For example, LSX Real Street and the Shut Your Face race?
Since Shut Your Face is a Special Event.

I believe that racing LSX Real Street and LSX Rumble won't be allowed, as they are both Points Series Classes.

Please advise.

Holley would have to answer that for sure, but I don't believe that was an issue last year.

it''s real hard to hot lap a heads up car. the heads up cars are called to the lanes when they run out they call the index classes.

Then how about LSX Rumble and SYF?

One is Heads Up the other is Index and only one is part of the series.

As long as it's not two points classes I don't have a problem with it. You will need a tech card for both classes.

HA John,I am guessing 250+ cars this year.

There were 250 cars there last year, so I'm assuming we'll break 300 easily.

Guys, the best place to stay relatively close to the hotel is pretty much the host hotel @ Holiday Inn off of the main strip (Scottsville Rd.). It's less than six miles away from the track.

I will be there... Had a blast running true street last year. I've been building the poor 346ci to handle 20psi just for this race.

I might need some help pushing this thing off the track when the 10 bolt gives up.

Hi slvrbackls1, I received four email confirmations for preregistrants over the weekend so it doesn't seem like people are having much of a problem with it.

Have you tried from another computer?

Is there a way to pre-register for just auto-x and speed stop? I have no desire to do the drag race and $155 is a little steep for an auto-x event.

JimMueller

I'm also curious why the race tire class was removed from the autox and speed stop challenges. Do they have a drag race class with the same tire limitations?

I'm skipping it this year... it really wasn't worth the drive from Orlando for an event which is really designed for the drag race crowd who want to see how their vehicle behaves in other events. The events other than the drag races were obviously afterthoughts. They could improve the autox course by actually blowing the loose dust/debris and standing water off the course (which they did for the drag racing) if they were interested in safety.

I always wondered why those with the best speed stop results won the Baer gift certificates (which were useless to me). One could argue that those with poor brake systems are the ones which need the help.

Let me know when they go to somewhere like Road Atlanta, Barber Motorsports Park, or Road America :D
