Default NEED HELP !!!!!(headlight)

I have an 05 CTS-V, the car states that the car needs a headlamp, the driver side HID is out, my wife bought a new one, I replaced it and it doesn't light up... it flicker like its trying to light up, I am afraid its the ballast for the HID light and the dealer wants 400 for a new one...

Is there anything else that i can be... is there anything else i need to check...has this happened to anyone else, if it is the ballast I will try to find a used one but I can't spend 400 dollars on a ballast when i can by a complete HID kit for any other car with ballasts and bulbs for under a 100 bucks.

Please help!!!

you could do aftermarket, i think they even make kits to plug it in, instead of splicing, i used to get ballasts from toyota(parts guy) and put em in everything but they would have to be hard wired they work just fine

DDM tuning now sells a D1S kit...$160+shipping...or the ballast for $55 Each....Thats what I have in mine after the ballast went out a few weeks outside warranty. you'll need to wire up the ballasts, but its not hard.
