Im not one to be scared of anything at all but there are some things that do actually scare the shit out of me. I'm scared to freakin death of snakes and big spiders. I'm scared of heights. I can deal with heights when I'm confined like a roller coaster. But if free to roam around in high areas I freeze up. I hate needles, those really get me.Teenage girls in big trucks scare me. Elderly people drivin with sunglasses scare me. I'm scared of drowning. But I think my worst fear is being slowly crushed by something. So yeah I'm a sissy lol. What scares you guys

White towels. Not even kidding. Hand towels, rags, etc are fine. Hand me a bath towel in white and I will have a damn panic attack.
I think it is the idea that they never look completely perfect clean so I feel like I am about to use a giant slime rag to dry off with.

^ Same here.. Spiders and Heights. Both deathly afraid of. I freeze up when I'm up too high. Typically over 50' or so, but I'm fine with flying for some reason. I guess I trust it more than being on a man-lift, ladder or scaffold. Or even a roof.

The only thing that scares me about snakes is their strike speed and they're unpredictable. But they're only gonna strike if they're coiled up.
And yeah, roaches creep me out. Nasty mfkrs. I used to find these larger ones in my bathtub when I was out west. startle me at first, but then I smash em and flush em. "Return to sender."

Just playing, I don't own anything appropriate for home defense as far as firearms go. I used to do the baseball bat thing at my old place.

I've seen camel spiders about three feet long, scary. I'm scared of spiders if I can't see them, other than that they don't bother me. I also get a little anxiety if I think someone is in the house that shouldn't be. My new Rottweiler puts my wife and me at ease about that though lol.

I work for a garage door company and have been doing maintenance on Firehouses this past week. The older stations have 12' high doors but some of the newer stations have 14' high doors. That's just the opening height. Some are 'high lifted', which means the track and springs are higher then 14'. I stand ON TOP of a 14' A-frame ladder (wearing my 15 pound tool belt) and the springs are at eye level (I'm 5'11") or a little higher depending on which station I'm at. Now having said that, I'm nervous when doing this. Sometimes I hold on with one hand and tighten bolts or lube springs with the other. We have a scissor lift that goes higher but it's kind of cumbersome to haul around. So ladders are quicker, but a little more nerve racking. If I have something to hold onto I'm 'ok' with heights but still nervous. My biggest fear is water. You will never catch me diving off anything into water. In a pool I will kind-of-swim but no diving or going underwater. I'm just fine with bridges. As a matter of fact when the family and I are crossing any of the bay area bridges (San Francisco) I will say to my wife..."this would be a hell of a time for an earthquake"... Her response is usually... Haha.

Dude I still hate climbing tall ladders^^^^
To afraid of the bottom foot pegs slipping out on me when I'm at the top of the ladder or the ladder simply sliding off to the side.
The ultimate fear I suppose is the falling part and all the way down to the hard surface below..
I gave up contacting jobs in the past to avoid high ladder climbs and or side building work, stories up.. Just never felt comfortable up their, never!!!

Got burglarized once, unfortunately they stole my nightstand gun, so I replaced it with my 1911. I'm nervous about people breaking into my place. It sounds weird, but you'd have to actually be burglarized (not stolen from ie: something taken from your truck), and walked into where you live and seen the place trashed with your stuff missing, to actually comprehend fully, the idea of someone intruding on you in your home. That's one thing i'm afraid of.. although it's a great opportunity to exercise the right to give the next guy a piece of what you'd like to have given the first guy.. haha

Also, never been on a helicopter, never plan to be on one unless I'm unconcious fighting for my life going to the hospital. Something about that machine and how it violently whips the laws of physics and gravity into its own notions of how things should be.
So when something goes wrong on the helicopter, gravity and physics just give the machine one huge FUCK YOU and it comes down to the ground like a rock.
I'm fine on planes, because you can glide a long ways and you have time to fix the problem/fire the engine up again. Not to mention there are so many backup systems on a plane it makes helicopters look like a total joke.

I broke my ankle when I was deployed playing basketball getting a rebound back in the fall of 08. And I just now noticed a few months ago I don't crash the boards are drive in nearly as much as I did before I had my incident. So I guess that is a fear. I guess as dorky as it sounds women too.

I actually learned in psychology (minor in college) that most fears stem from things that can actually harm us. They're legitimate fears that still bother us even through evolution. Forgot the exact clinical description for it though.
So when someone is afraid of blue wall paper, or something else irrational, it may stem from a repressed past incident or other issues.

I was emptying a waterbed once, fitted the hose, ran it to the bathtub to empty, started to siphon out the water and a spider came out with it...into my mouth. Meh, after you spend enough time with enough heartless bitches, you turn into a cold shell of a man. From then on you can't feel the pain of losing a girl, it's just Tuesday. Downside is that you can't really feel much for them to begin with, even good things.

Spiders for sure. Woke up once to a nasty black one crawling across my face! Bad part was I jumped out of bed so quickly I couldn't find it and kill it.
Snakes, even worse are water snakes.
Centipedes... Too many legs
Paranormal stuff.... Not sure if I believe in ghosts and what not, but I've had a few situations where things were "eerie" or maybe unexplainable.
Heights, but only if you are able to fall. I always get a weird feeling in my stomach if I'm up high with no walls or guard rails there.
Empty parking garages at night make me feel a little weird...
Probably think of more later. I'm not exactly scared of these things, but I don't like them lol

OK. I have some really irrational fears.
Fear #1. Air raid sirens. I HATE those damn things! Particularly the ones in old WWII movies. Something about that sound scares the **** out of me!
Fear #2. Nuclear War. See above fear. If it ever breaks out I hope I'm right under the bomb
Fear #3. Really BIG fans. I'm scared to death of being sucked in and chopped to pieces by one. Probably stems from a story my dad told me once :bang:
Fear #4. Heights.
Fear #5. That the world will end before I have a chance to live my life.
Fear #6. Bugs/Bees. I HATE COCKROACHES! :laser: I want to move to Texas where they aren't as bad (so I hear)
Fear #7. loud noises in general. Goes back to fire drills in high school and burglar alarms going off in the middle of the night. I hated the buzzer for the fire alarm at school and that would really mess with me. Maybe that's one of the reasons I hate fart cans now :D

I'm scared of all the elderly people on the road along with young drivers who think they are invincible but most importantly drunk drivers.
Scared of big bodies of water at night, that complete darkness and the unknown lurking below scares the crap out of me.
The thought of dying by fire freaks me out.
Also scared of a home invasion while I'm sleeping but my doberman is my alarm system (even though she wouldn't hurt a fly) when someone comes up to the house and see's a doberman barking at them good chances are that they will go to the next house.

Have you ever watched I Know What You Did Last Summer? That part where he walks in behind someone without being noticed and hids out in her closet has made me deathly afraid of closed closets. That, and movies where people pop up from the back seat, have caused me to always lock the door behind me, both houses and cars. It's also because I don't want anything getting stolen, fucking pricks.
Spiders are my #1 for sure, followed closely by crawly bugs. Whenever I see a spider it's getting killed, and if I'm in my apartment it gets the BBQ Axe flame thrower death. Most flying bugs I'm fine with, other than big ass moths. Open wounds too; I have no problem handling pain, but if I look at a deep cut it will make me really nauseous. Tight spaces are also a problem, but only ones that are tight enough to where I can't turn around and go out the way I came in.

I almost stepped on one while jogging on the road. It was curled up right on the white line on the edge of the street (where I run on) and I just happen to look down at that right moment to see my foot about to step on it. I managed to thrust my body all the way to the left while in mid step and land in the middle of the street practically. I never thought I could jump like that.

X2, another word of advice is to stop worrying. She is way more likely to leave you if you are always afraid of losing her; that fear always leads to clinginess which leads to her getting sick of you and leaving your ass. Usually results in her walking all over you too; if you are scared to lose her you are going to be scared to stand up for what you believe in.

I'm scared of girls that smoke cigarettes.. They all smell down stairs from my past experiences....
Holy shit...you might be on to something here. I've only been with two girls that smoked and on a 1-10 scale of god awful vag smells, they were both 11's. Every other non-smoker was at most a 7.

I hate flying commercially when I know the destination weather is bad and the alternate is not much better. Airliners don't carry enough fuel.
I am afraid of being hungover, it gives me a terrible nervous, depressed feeling.
I don't like being approached by random strangers. They always have an alterior motive.
I'm afraid of the police. They are mainly looking to skim your wallet, have way too much power and are generally oppressive. Same goes for Gov't.
Afraid mostly of going to hell. That would suck... bad. I'm trying to live a better life, just in case getting to heaven ain't that easy.

I almost stepped on one while jogging on the road. It was curled up right on the white line on the edge of the street (where I run on) and I just happen to look down at that right moment to see my foot about to step on it. I managed to thrust my body all the way to the left while in mid step and land in the middle of the street practically. I never thought I could jump like that..
I had one in my bathtub (just a baby one, I saved its tail :judge:), another time I was walking thru some tall grass in my buddies' backyard, and I could hear it rattling, but couldn't see it. I froze up and the world went silent for a few seconds, haha.. That one was about 4' long..
Third time was a Mojave Green, it actually struck at my leg, and latched onto my riding boot.. at 15mph on my dirtbike. I got back to camp white as a ghost..
I'll pet/play with snakes anytime, as long as they're not deadly.

Nah, it's not a fear, per se.. and its not something you make into a life-controlling situation, but when push comes to shove, sometimes its in the back of your mind when you fuck up pretty bad..

i fear getting old. maybe i am already. :(
Going to have to knock spiders out of the number one, getting old is my biggest fear. I'm only 22 right now, but I know 30 and 40 are going to come a hell of a lot quicker than I want them too.

Swifty, it sounds like you may need to take some meds for all that crap, or lay off the crack and meth pipe just a tad..
Having thoughts that everyone and especially authoritative figures are out to get you are classic symptoms of mental instability, which is typically brought about in most cases by excessive drug use...
Good luck with all that shit pal, I'm pulling for you to get those brain neurons firing correctly again...

i cant say im afraid of spiders or snakes...living in the city i really never encounter them so dunno how i would react if i came face to face with one.
the only thing im deeply afraid of is not being able to provide a good life for my babygirl (19mo old)....im blessed in being healthy and having a good job but i dunno what i would do if something happened.
with that said, i dont tend to worry about shit untill shit happens. i live 1 day at a time and have fun doin it with my wife and child....i love them both to death and would do anything for them....even sell my cars if need be...:D.

....even sell my cars if need be...:D.
Sold my car last fall hoping to buy house this summer. Also, the fact that my g/f and I have an 11 month old son. Helped to pay some things off that's for sure.
Anyway, spiders scare the crap out of me. I hate them with a passion. Snakes rank right up there with them though. Also afraid of heights.

LOL.
Really big spiders, snakes of ANY kind, worms, bugs that look disgusting in general (I'm a girl, so deal with it). I'm from the city originally, so this type of stuff doesn't play out well for me!
Used to be blood but then I got sick. No one would have ever pegged me for one to be able to give myself an IV and pull my own blood and whatnot. It's the little things. I can't really look at surgical type things, though.
Drowning is my biggest fear, and heights (like being stuck in traffic on a bridge).

I don't like the open ocean. I hate not being able to see whats below me, I don't trust fish.
I also get nervous driving near 18 wheelers. Had one Jacknife in front of me on the highway, I though for sure I was gonna crash into him. Luckily, I stayed calm and was able to avoid a wreck.

RATS! RATS! and RATS!!!
I am literally terrified of them. If someone wants to see me scream like a little girl that's the best way to go about it. I once saw a huge one about a foot long from nose to tail squeeze into a space about an inch wide and I've been damaged ever since.

What scares you guys
uh...you just contradicted the fvck out of your first sentence.

1.Roaches= they will make you hurt yourself more than anything.
2.Spiders= try not to get bit by the ones here, certain ones will make your body rot(see "necrosis").
3.Snakes= See number one, there are a few here that can kill you.
Welcome to Florida
Lightning is my biggest. Knew 4 people personally that has been killed by it. I will run like a little bitch when it gets close and I have no problem saying that.

I have to agree with this. I've seen mice in my house, a snake in my mother-in-laws house that I had to catch. Spiders, slugs, been stung by wasp's and bee's. Almost drowned once. But it doesn't keep me out of the water. Amazingly I seem to function just fine day to day. I'm 43. Half-way to death. Most of you guys are probably half my age. What's wrong with you guys? Not enough hugs when you were younger? Some of the stuff I'm reading blows me away. It must suck to go through life looking over your shoulder.:eyes:

Trust me, I don't walk around all high and mighty. Far from it. But I won't freak out every time I see a spider or mouse. Water and heights are probably my two biggest things. But I'll go in the water (not deep water) and I'll climb ladders and stand on the edge of a roof. When I got laid off for two months, that was a little scary. I used to get laid off quite often when I was working construction. But I didn't have a Wife, Son and a mortgage back then either. I just take life day to day and try not to sweat the small things. The way some of these posts are written it sounds like half these people are walking around just waiting for something to happen to them. I refuse to go thru life worried about something that 'might' happen. Sorry you don't see it that way.

I think there is a difference between people that walk around waiting for stuff to happen, and people that are secure enough to be aware and acknowledge things that scare them
