Does anyone know why there aren't many tight lobe separation cams available for racing applications? Most of the cams seem to be in the 112 and above range. Is it because there aren't any cores available yet, or is it because there just isn't enough of a market for this type of cam yet?

you can spec your own if you want a tighter one.
Most shelf cams are designed for street use. Track ones often are down in the 108 range etc.
Totally depends what you are trying to achieve.

All cam grinders will grind what you want.The trick is to really know what you want.Everyone over cams and blames the cam they picked.Pay pat g the 25 bucks and get what you need.Cams are complicated things.Bigger isn't always better!

The design of the intake has a lot to do with what LSA you "need" to run. The rest lies in valve events.

They work just fine but many are a biotch to tune and make work at idle and lower rpm but we do many like that if the package allows it.

I'm solid roller on a 108. That changes a few things, but I'm shocked at how well it idles and drives. I speced it myself and then got Eriks opinion on it while he was building the motor. It's in a street car btw.

I have a 30x/30x @.050 on a 99.5 LSA with over 700 lift in a 327 but it revs to 9K and idles at 1200 and has a carb.....and that cam is on the small side.

You don't see more cams like that because most of what is spewed about on forums is for street cars and a trailer racer generally isn't going to tell you his cam specs....

My Z06 has a 236/244 on a 114 in a 408 and peaks in the low 6000's RPM....but I also spray that car.

Seems like that should have a much higher RPM peak/shift point but I am no expert.
