buying a used engine what to check?
So I am looking at a 6.0 lq4 tomorrow it is supposed to only have 13k miles on it and be a 2006. What should I watch for check do to confirm this is what he states. Owner claims he has title of vehicle it came from and he started it ran with no issues before he pulled it. It is now out of vehicle so no way to run it.
I would like to try to do a leakdowntest on it, but any other things I can check or do hat will help? Anything specific to each for?

Only with a teardown and checking the rods will you know whether it's a later (05 on up) LQ4.
No way to know the exact year, But there were few changes of note besides changing from press-in pins to floating ones.

2006 13k motor should look clean.
Turn the crank to see if it's smooth or if rust got in.
2006 may have 2 pin alternator instead of 4.
Get the VIN from the owner and look up by vin number. That will tell you what engine it is.
