402 buildup for my cts-v
After purchasing my 04 CTS-V last year, I have done a few bolt on upgrades to the car, including.......
Kooks 1 7/8" long tubes
Off road connection pipes to the stock catback
Flowmaster mufflers
Spec 25 lb. steel flywheel
Hendrix Engineering clutch kit
K&N FiPK intake
Creative Steel poly motor and trans mounts
B&M shifter
and custom tune
With those mods the LS6 belted out 387 rwhp. Not bad, and has been serving me well for daily driver duty.
After contemplating going with a maggie, I was disappointed with most 112 results, and it was looking to be a pain in the *** to do a 119 or bigger. So I decided to go for cubic inches instead.
Parts for the buildup........
LS2 block 4.005" bore
Callies Compstar 4" crank and 6.125" rods
Manley -3cc pistons
Akerly & Childs rings
Virginia Speed CNC block treatment and custom cam
ARP fasteners
TEA stage 2 cnc LS3 heads
Virginia Speed ported LS3 intake and LS7 throttle body
Katech LS2 adapter harnesses
Rotating assembly is at the machine shop, the heads arrived from TEA today. I decided to snap a couple of pics of the heads and flow chart.
The rest should be coming together in the next couple of weeks

Here are some pics of the block and rotating assembly fresh from being balanced.
The block prior to being dropped off the Shawn Miller for his CNC treatment.
Compstar 4" crank
Compstar 6.125" H-beams, I have run these in my 7000 rpm 1300+hp turbo motor in the past, with zero issues.

Short block should be done any day. Here are some more parts.

We've taken in GM "re-manufactured" LS2 engines as cores, found 4.020" pistons installed in them by GM, they may contract out the
reman work.
I believe GM states for 6.0 blocks, .020 within service.
.020 over kind of an arbitrary number, difference between .020 and .030 is bout a fingernail thickness.
We've run LS2 block + .030" without issue, with sonic tester showed .100" minimum thickness at 4.030".

Been driving the car for a couple of weeks now. Still tweaking and breaking in the clutch and motor.
So far with a stock LS2 TB it has put down 491 rwhp 463rwtq. I think there is more in it. Still playing with the custom 4" intake as far as LS7 MAF placement. We did pick up around 18 rwhp and 28 ft lbs with the custom 4" air intake compared to the K&N FiPK.
It is quite a bit funner with the additional 100+ hp! The clutch is awesome too.

Well bringing this one back...........
The 402 has been running since July if I remember. It does well and layed down around 485 rwhp, Great driveabilty fuel mileage etc....
But being I work in a LSX speed shop, and can't leave well enough alone, we conducted a little experiment in search of more power!
We pulled the TEA LS3 heads, ported LS3 intake and custom LS3 cam. Ordered up some new TEA Trick Flow 235's, a FAST 102 LSXR intake and did one of our custom grind cams we dubbed the 'Gargamel"
While it was tore down, I finally got around to installing the Drive Shaft Shop anti wheel hop axle bars and Creative Steel diff bushing, also seemed like a good time to upgrade the fuel pump to an Aeromotive Stealth 340, with a Racetronics hotwire harness.
I blacked out the wheels and the complete Stainlees Works dual 3" exhaust was a carryover but never re dynoed it with the old heads.
Final numbers today were 518 rwhp SAE, and 532 STD corrected.
