Default can trans fluid be too cool?

just got my temp gauge hooked up and drove bout 10 miles on top of the 8 it took to get home to hook it up. and after the drive the temp gauge ( auto meter pro comp) was a lil under 150. im running the stock cooler into a ext. cooler, and have a 160 t stat. so is it too cool?

Hell no it cant be to cool. 160f is a GREAT temp to run at all the time. I run my ext cooler as a stand alone and even when I drove it in the begining of last winter it was fine. Trans temp would be 30f or below at startup and I would just give the car 5-10 min to get coolant temp up and by that time trans temp would be about 50f.

Like engine oil, I think trans fluid does have a minimum recommended operating temp. From what I've read, that temp is around 160* F.
