Default A body LS swap

I've looked on BMR's website but can't find the kit that comes with headers/motor mounts/trans crossmember/oil pan for LS drop into an A body. Little help?

Yeap, thank you!lol brain fart.

Now, does anyone have this complete kit on their car? Pros and cons? Seems like a simple straight forward deal. I would use the LH8 pan.

I have the lh8 pan on my chevelle and I think it hangs too low. I did not use the brp kit though.

I would recommend the MAST or the Holley oil pans.

You can run into problem if you try to raise the engine up to keep the oil pan up out of the way and hanging below the cross member. this being Transmission and Firewall clearence and Engine/Trans till angle.

the BRP kit does raise up the engine some.

But it's your choice to work with any pro or con of any kit or part. good luck

I haven't gone with this yet, but plan to. BRP said I could use LH8 or the CTS-V, so I picked up a CTS-V pan (got yesterday) which is shorter. Figured the $200 I saved on the pan will help pay for the BRP kit, which includes a crossmember that I will no longer have to fabricate for my T56 in a 71 Conv Cutlass...

I want you guys to know that I've read most of the sticky about ls and Abody swaps....I'm confused as ****! Some people have pan issues, some don't with the same pan but with different mounts, but those same mounts can give you a headache when it comes time to order headers!!!

After some reading, I've come up with this for possibly an easy drop in deal.

Autokraft pan, edelbrock headers, edelbrock motor mounts.

I've read the autokraft mounts move the motor too far forward for edelbrock headers. I think I've just read too much in 1 day and have overwhelmed myself lol. For some reason energy suspension motor mounts stick out but I can't remember why

I will NOT but running a/c or power steering. Car has a manual s-10 box.

Better hurry and find your Edelbrock headers/mounts if you can. They have been discontinued. I know I know...Just when you get a plan...some jackass throws a monkey wrench in the mix!

One Day ... you'll look back and say.. that was simple.. ! LOL.. hang in there. It will come together. You have a lot of support.

One way to go about it is. start by picking one thing and build around it.. May not be well planned out.. but you will learn as you go.

I SOOOOO FEEL YOUR PAIN. I wish someone would just tell me exactly what is needed so I can have everything ordered and ready for my swap, but I guess it doesn't happen like that..... so until then.....

I've found if you find a few people with the same car as yours that have done the swap and see what they went with it make sit a little easier. Still doesn't clear the muddy LS water but does help decide what works and what doesn't versus spending a **** ton of money on trial and error when most of it has been done already. Just my .02

I used the BRP's kit, in my 71, and with that said, I would NOT use the lh8 pan again. It hangs to low, Im doing the same swap in my 66 now and went with the Holley pan, MUCH better.... I didn't go with them for my 66 cause i think they're to high... I went with the hooker mounts, but Im still not sold on there stuff either, course, they say it fits a 68-72 a body and the 64-67 frames are a little bit different.....
If you can see in my pic, i added a deflector plate under my crossmember to help deflect any hits from the road. It's now flush with the bottom of the lh8 pan....

I've never seen an lh8 pan that didn't look too low, even a cts-v pan hangs down more than I'd like (I'm not raising my engine any more than it already is).

I recommend dirty dingo slider mounts if you want to keep your mounting options open,

Holley oil pan is 368 free shipping on amazon
Still waiting for it
Dougs headers are 459 amazon free shipping

Dirty dingo motor mounts eBay 150

Aeromotive regulater 144 amazon

If you have the money go with a ricks tank

I know this is a year old thread, but I'm just replying to this post......

I agree.....
I went with the F-body pan and it's a tight fit, but it works better and it's bottom is FLUSH with the K-member.
1/4" Spacers under the chevelle frame mounts, and Energy Suspension 3.1117 mounts.

I already had my trans tunnel cut for the T-56 so this made installation easier....
Guy I know on Nastyz28 trashed his engine with the CTS-V pan hitting a manhole cover.....and disintegrated.

The slider mounts are $135 shipped direct from them.
Sucks about that nastyz guy. Maybe I should get an f body or holley pan while my motor is out.

Engine plates powdercoated are on Ebay for $30 unless you really want that range.

Mine worked.
