Default Factory 02 SLP help

I am getting an 02 SS with the SLP 345hp center exhaust performance option
The ss package includes forced air induction hood and low restriction dual outlet exhaust.

2 questions: 1. what exact upgrades make up the slp package?
2. what would the 2 most cost effective bolt on upgrades be?

I am thinking porting and polishing the throttle body and a modest performance ECU tune/chip upgrade

Note: I do not want to remove cats

Great forum

Appreciate the help

First so you know, all SSs went to SLP. Not all received this 345 package. I thought the 345 package included a lid and cat-back. All cars got the hood. That exhaust is called the dual/dual. It has a really nice tone, flows well, and is not obnoxiously loud. Its very sought after for those looking for those qualities. Its also stainless I believe. Not all dual/dual mufflers got the center tips. The name dual/dual is bc they originally came with dual tips on each side. You will have a dual/dual muffler with the Center Mount Exit tips (which was extra).

When cars went to SLP they received a hood, spoiler, and silver wheels. There were lots of options. Lids and catbacks were the only hp options. There was a tire upgrade, chrome 5 or 10 spoke wheels, suspension upgrade, auburn posi upgrade, CME (center mount exhaust tips) car cover, floormats, dash plaque, and stuff like that. Any car could have any options or no options.

Everything about this post is completely wrong. Don't listen to this guy.

Just kidding.

Actually, I have nothing to add, other than some confirmation about these points though:

It does. Cars that received only the dual/dual catback were 335hp package cars. The Blackwing lid was a required part of the 345hp package.

Yep, dual/dual is stainless.

Default SLP HP upgrades - next HP bolt ons

Thanks for the info - I do like the sound
What do you think of polishing/porting throttle body and a modest performance chip/tune as next 2 bolt on HP upgrades?

Also, I can call SLP and inquire about headers to match up with there cat back system

Gonna have to go with shorty headers to keep the cats in the stock location. You could run Long Tubes and get a catted Y pipe and that would work as well. You need to read up we got some great threads here, you'll learn all you need to know and then some.

if i go with shorty headers, port/polished throttle body, and safe ecu/chip and tune
what would you estimate hp/torque gains?

P+P TB wont gain you but a few. Shorties could gain 10 possibly, dyno tune could gain none to 20 I would think. So maybe 30 altogether if the tune is really good. Best bet is look for people who have a similar combo and see what they are gaining. Otherwise its really just speculation.

lets say 45hp with shorties, p/p throttle body and conservative tune

what if I went with a long tube, true dual exhaust instead of shorties - another 10-15hp?

Also, some threads on here alude to the fact that I probably have LS6 block
How can I tell for sure?

Thanks again for the help

Yea but not 304 stainless which is the better stainless. It has to be 409, like factory systems it will show lots of surface rust but not supposed to rust through. When I had my GTP I bought an SLP catback. I got tricked by one of their ads that said "made of 304 stainless" when only the mufflers were 304, the pipes had 409 printed all over it.

Yep, SLP has used 409 on many things.

I really like the look of the CME. Long Tubes with a Catted-Y and an underdrive pulley would be a good start.
Stall Converter if its an A4.
Nice Vehicle, and welcome to the show.

I would not could on 45 with shorties, PP TB, and Tune. I would say 20 would be a better estimate. 10 for the shorties with a tune, and 5-7 for the TB and maybe a few more HP from cleaning up the stock tune.

Especially being a 2002 you will gain next to nothing from shorties since the 02 manifolds flow really well for manifolds. I would say you would be looking at around 35-40 with LT's, TB, and tune.
