Default Hard shift a4

I have a 99 TA with a4 72390 miles on it all stock... Seems like it shifts hard... Especially when I punch it... What can I do to help this? Does seafoam work for this? My grandfather told my mother to put it in her grand prix tranny when it shifted hard but we never did... Anything will help

Check it for a p1870 code. TCC lockup clutch. PCM reads TCC slipping and raises line pressure a causes hard 1-2 shifts especially. Can cause tranny probs if not dealt with by sleeving TCC with new piston....

It's inside the converter. You would have to pull the converter and take it to a shop so they can cut it open and take a look at it.
