hey guys i know a guy locally selling a red 94 TA its an a4 leather high rise blah blah blah but thing is it has a rod knock once warmed up....

he is askin 1400 but he didnt seem to mind that i offered him 600 for it so before i pull the trigger maybe some advice?
it runs and drives i drove it and the transmission is flawless just needs lots of TLC

and yes i built my 94 so i know what im getting into and what im mainly lookin to to is rebuild the engine back to stock pretty much and clean it and sell it.'

like i said before it has a rod knock peeling clear coat on the front end and a baseball size dent in the quarter panel right where the rear bumper and quarter meet.

so do you think 600 is a fair price and it also has a clean title

paint/bodywork/engine - not budget at all. all three areas are the most expensive on a car so 600 is probably fine. how many miles? you're looking at 4k in repairs on the cheap side. if it's not a low mileage car, you probably won't be getting your money back.

You can find a motor for around 500 if you look. Maaco paint job after you sand it will be under 500. I'd leave the dent. If the interiors clean and the a/c works you'll probably bring between 3000-3500 depending on mileage.

Buy it, put the good transmission in your car....sell what's left along with your toasted transmission. It should still bring over $600. Have you priced a TA front bumper, headlights, fog lights, and rear hatch with spoiler lately?? Plus think of all the other little spare parts you could keep for your car.
