Default Need a little help from my V guys!!

I'm doing my grill black right now and I need to know if you guys that have done it are powder coating the whole thing or having it painted? The top part is plastic so I'm not sure it can be powdered coated?

I tried something different
WHY?...I heard SOME V guys who painted/powdercoated their grills have problems with the black grilles then getting chipped. (NOT ALL just a few)

So I tried Plasti Dip Paint (black) http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip
....I think I posted my results in the past
It turned out GREAT, color is a Flat black (which is what I wanted)
I bought from Ace Hardware for about $6
I used one can for both upper and lower grilles, I applied about 5 coats
you need to prep the grilles with sandpaper and/or steel wool
then I let it dry overnite before reinstall
I did this last summer and I've tracked the car 3-4 times and probably gone thru 6+ car washes since then...an no chips!!!

I think the reason is doesn't chip is it is not a hard painted surface, if feels a little soft and rubbery...

if you need more details, post or email me directly.

Did it go on pretty smooth with no ripples or anything?? I have a sand blaster here at work to scuff it up, that should work...

Not sure if the plastic would stand up to the heat needed to powder-coat it . . .

I know grills have been powerder coated before but this plastidip just seems a lot easier and cheaper.

I used the plasti dip on mine as well. Got the idea from another forum member (M_T Pockets). He had a good writeup on it and a link to buy the stuff online. It holds up great. Im not 100% but im pretty sure since its a rubbery type coating it doesnt come in gloss.

Well I'm going to give in a try, I'm doing my wheels in only 10% gloss so I think it will match up better. We will see...... I will post a few pics.
