Default What cam would put down numbers like this?

Here is the thread I started giving a preliminary of all I know that is done to the car and showing an idle vid to try and find out what cam is in it.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...ound-like.html

I just got the car dynoed today. First run is cutout closed, 2nd is open. I have no idea if headwork was done or not.
Numbers are hard to read... closed is 364.59 HP 365.10 TQ. open is 370.94 HP 367.73 TQ

so do you guys think it's cam only or that they possibly did headwork? They are the stock 853 castings.

^ Maybe a small cam. Hot cam? Looks like stock heads and/or stock-ish intake. My 224/228 cam climbs to 6800 fine with no dropoff.

Peaks to early and doesnt make much power. Mystery cam = Something that needs to be changed!

I would blame the shorty headers and ls1 intake for the low numbers more than the cam. The numbers aren't even that bad.

Warning ricer math ahead: Figure it likely picks up at least 10-15rwhp with a ls6 intake (and revs better) and minimum 5-10rwhp with longtubes and he is right there ~385+rwhp.

Pretty typical for a small cam ls1 on a dyno that isn't overly optimistic.

I agree. I dont think they are that bad all, especially with a a LS1 intake and shortys

Yea whats so bad about my numbers?? I was impressed given it has shorties and stock intake. It's also pretty rich up top. Plus I like the fact i don't have to rev it to the moon for peak power.

How do you know it's rich? Did they tell you your a/f ratio too?

If you don't have a good tune the numbers are even better for what you have. Don't swap cams until you optimize intake/exhaust.

To peak that early, 220 or smaller I guess. And I agree too numbers arent bad considering LS1 intake and shorties.

yes my a/f was around 11.4. I have no intentions of changing this cam out. The car is my daily driver and I was pretty pleased with the numbers. It drives like a stock car.

Then yes your numbers are very good for whats done.

ls6 or better intake, cheap longtubes, and a tune should put you within the range of 400hp and the car will drive like stock...good setup to me

Well after hours of digging I actually found the 1st owner on here. The heads have been ported and the cam is a comp custom grind 218/218 .563/.563- 112LSA.
Also the running rich issue when I had it dynoed was due to me putting a stock MAF on it. I bought the car with a SLP 85mm and noticed the car would spark knock. I thought it was the big MAF causing it because I had no clue any of this was done. And I found out the guy had the car dyno tuned WITH the 85mm MAF. The crappy plug and wire change that the guy I bought it from was causing the spark knock.

The car originally dynoed 380hp 379tq. So I think by me putting the 85mm maf back on it should be back up to the numbers it originally put down.

Speed INc. dyno tuned it back then.

I thank him for creating such a quiet, mild-mannered combo that drives like stock and runs phenomenal!
