Default Wheels and Tires Just to get it home

Hello all. I have searched for about an hour and can't find what i am looking for. I am not really into the f-body cars, but have a 96 Impala. I have found a donor 97 WS6 for my 6 speed swap to the Impala. Problem is, the car doesn't have wheels so I can test drive it and get it on the trailer. I don't want to have to buy wheels to look at a car I might not buy. I have some round track buddies who have some wheels and tires I can borrow. I just need to know if they will fit and not cause any damage during a test drive and trailer home. I think it will be close, but just don't know.

15 x 8 with 4" back space (zero offset).
5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern

Will the 15's fit over the brakes?
Will these stick out too far and damage the fenders?

Thanks,
Jonathan

My guess is that you will not be able to clear the caliper in the front. 16's would likely be a tight fit.

Yeah I think you will have problems with a lot of 15" wheels with brake clearance and those wheels will stick out also.I think the stock 8" BS is 5 or 5.5".Where are you at? Maybe someone on here local to you would have stock wheels and tires they took off and could help you out??

I have the stock Impala wheels and tires in the basement, but they are 5 on 5. I am sure they would work size and offset if only the bolt pattern was right. I am in Huntsville.

The WS-6 came with 17" wheels as OE, but that's not important for what you want to do. The "normal" Firebirds and Camaros came with 16" wheels, with a 5x4.75" bolt circle, and most importantly, 6" of backspacing. Anything less than 5.5-5.75" of backspacing will have the tires into the fenders.

You might want to hit a junkyard for a set of the "space-saver" spare wheels/tires. I'm sure that you could get them cheap.

I found some 98 Z28 wheels and tires locally for a decent price (listed as 98-02 Z28 wheels). I was told that they might not fit on a 97 TA because of backspacing issues. Will these work on a 97 WS6?

From what I know, there were some changes made to the braking system when the cars stepped up to the LS1 engine, which was in '98, but to the best of my knowledge, they should work.
