Question Can you use stock LS3 Crank Sprocket with Aftermarket Timing Chain Set?

Hi guys,

I'm installing a sightly used (2,400 miles) LS3 short block along with ported LS3 heads and LS3 intake into my 2001 Camaro SS M6.

I am going to use the Lingenfelter 58x to 24x converter box since the short block has the 58x reluctor wheel.

When I got my short block it still had the stock crank sprocket.

I bought parts from SDPC to do the conversion and they sent me an aftermarket timing set, not stock LS2 like I thought I was getting.

Can I use the aftermarket timing chain set with the stock LS3 crank sprocket?

Bill

I believe the LS3 is running a single bolt cam while the older sprokets you have is a 3 bolt set up.

Use the new set. The stock gear is not that hard to pull off. I'm using the 3bolt set up from SDPC on my engine. I can't remeber the name. It's a single roller.

How do I pull it off and how do I seat the new one properly?

Also doing the cam swap. Wondering if I can reuse stock timing gear set.

Get a new chain and use the old sprockets (they are NOT "gears")

Snowball effect and trying to stay within budget. But I already made the decision and purchased one last night.
