Default Best Street/Strip Drag radial

I know the mickeys are the best for the track but wont last long. What is the best for the track that will still last more then 3k miles on the road I hear the Nittos but everyone says they suck at the track

any other brands?? Any experience???

Thanks in advance

I run nitto nt555's in the rear (275/35/17) on my 00 TA and they hook up reasonably well. They are definitely not M/Ts, (I have not had M/Ts on my car but I have driven an nearly identical set up camaro with them briefly) but mine have 10k miles on them and still drive great, I hope to get another 10 out of them.

I guess it depends on your vehicle as well, I am putting down 370rwhp so for my needs the nittos have been phenomenal as a DD with occasional visits to the strip.

What size?

I have hooked almost as good on a Nitto 555R 275/50r15 as I have on a MT 325/50r15

I don't think they suck at all...

Well I'm actually looking into different tires now it seems to be either the Nittos or just have a back up set of rims for the Mickeys and drive them only to the track and back

The 555r is way better then a street tire and last for a good while. They are easier to spin then an ET street all else equal. The Nittos benefit from being aired down at the track and on the street. Mine used to love 20 lbs. for normal everyday driving.

To my understanding, Nittos come with street radials, right? Cuz the shop that I go to has the drag radials only. The NT05 looks WICKED.

TOYO PROXES TQ!

These are GREAT tires. I've been daily driving them for awhile, and I've almost had them a year, and you can barely tell. I have no traction problems whatsoever at my power level, they hook even on full street psi. They are amazing in the rain, as good as any street tire. Hell I've been in a freakin blizzard and made it home just fine. Some people say they can't take their cars with DRs out in the rain, but I drive these full speed on the interstate, no issue. And my 315/35/18 tires were only $200 a tire. I haven't been to the track with them, as the closest is 2 hours away and I don't want to break a 10bolt 2 hours away, but I'm sure you won't be displeased if you do track them. These are my only rear tires from now on!

^My bro runs them on his srt4... they hook well but wear fast! no quite as fast as the mt, but close! Toyo tq is the best overall for price, wear, and traction imo! Can't wait till I get a set on the back of my heap.

I had nitto DR's on my TBSS, they last quite a while and do work pretty well on the street, but they will not hook as well as the MT's do at the track, or at least as consistently. I did manage some 1.6 60's on the nittos, but that was with very good track prep. It all depends on if you want mileage or consistent ET's..? Hoosier also makes a nice DR, but they are also more for the track than street, but priced well...

do those run in 18's? I think those might be my next tire if they do! I have MT's right now. 305-35-18 and they hook great at 20psi and 30psi....but they are wearing way to fast.

Yeah I'm running a 315/35/18, only 18 they make. I just checked the site I bought them from, I paid 199/tire from tiresdirect.net last summer. Now they are up to $250. Still, IMO very worth it.

Nitto's don't suck, great in the rain and on the track. I think the M/T's are the ultimate though on the strip.
