Default where and what's it called?

My V came with the front rubber piece under the bumper tore to shreds from parking curbs. I'd like to replace it but can't find one and don't really know what it's called. If I can't find one I was thinking about just removing it entirely. Anyone know where to get one?

I assume GM didn't stick it on because they had some extra money laying around.

I'm sure the car can still be driven without it, but what is your goal in removing it?

On the older 911s this piece is absolutely necessary to balance the down-force created by the rear wing. Without it you can end up with a seriously unstable car: hundreds of pounds of down-force in the rear and lift in the front means the car does not steer so well. Could be the same here, or perhaps just helps keep air out from under the car to improve fuel economy. I would say it you keep speeds under 120 you won't have to worry about the lift issue. Fuel economy depends on how much you drive and if you like to waste money. But, as aurora40 says, the odds that Gm put it on there for no reason is slim. And, I doubt they put it on for looks either. It is pretty hard to see.

I took mine off and my car immediately started throwing lean codes. The dealer said it was because my tires didnt match in mileage or size and my drapes didnt match my carpet. I'm trading her in on a civic now their rear ends are sooo much sturdier.
