Road Racing - Getting ready for auto -x have Q'S

I have added a ps cooler, tranny cooler and have read some where some guys are replacing the oil pan drain bolt plastic washer with a brass or metal one. Seems the plastic ones tend to want to melt? Any body replace or have any problem with the plastic washer? Thanks

I doubt you will have any issues with the plastic washer melting during Auto-X..

I have been running HPDE's where I have been running my car at high RPM's for 20-60 minutes at a time and have never had an issue. I however did ditch the stock PS cooler and switch to a 2 row Derale cooler mounted where it receives good air-flow. Pump has survived thus far.

If it melts, you have bigger problems than a plastic washer. The type of problems that require an oil cooler.

I was looking into this yesterday. Do you have pictures of your setup? Perhaps a new thread to post the pics in? My car is 40% street, 40% aggressive cornering, and 20% drag strip, but I still don't want the stock cooler failing on me and dumping PS fluid into my coolant.

I will try to get some photos up tomorrow for you.. I should be swinging by my shop and Ill get some shots.

Not helpful... What I found was your post that said that Perma Cool is no longer around and that you used a Derale. No other topics centered around power steering cooler locations... Search terms used: derale cooler

I suppose I can dig around in the other cooler topics, though.

Here it is... Not the cleanest install job I have ever done, but it had done its job quite well over the past year and a half or so.

I put the Derale in lower right of my rad shroud, cut a hole and mounted it .
